Mucoid Fluid

Description : The typical appearance of the fluid removed from the middle ears of children with mucoid otitis media is shown.

The effusion is thick, opalescent, viscid, and has a creamy yellow coloration.

The usual volume of fluid aspirated is between 0.1 to 0.2 ml.
